I grew up on the Big Island, on the Puna side, and enjoyed being able to catch fish whenever we went out. Bamboo pole no less! Now, I live in Oahu and find it discouraging at times that we're not even able to catch live bait on some outings! If you have a boat, your chances are increased. But us broke land-locked people have to deal with the competitive and greedy people on limited shorelines. Some people just can't share.
